I really don't think of Hugo as a squib, either, but once I got the idea for his being an arachnidologist and Ron's being mental about it stuck in my head, I couldn't think of another way to work that out. I've always loved the fact that Ron is scared of spiders, because so am I. ;)
I liked your drabble, too. Ron and Hermione would definitely both go mental planning a wedding. ;)
